Two Colleges of Tamil Nadu Receive ‘A-Grade’ after Re-Accreditation

Tamil Nadu: Sadakkathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai and R D College, Coimbatore, out of six colleges of Tamil Nadu, has been re-accredited with 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
 
As per sources, the executive committee, comprising of K.K. Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Assam and Chairperson of the Team, Bhagyashri A. Shanbhag of Karnataka University, Dharwad and S.T. Gadade, principal, Changu Kana Thakur College, New Panvel, Maharashtra, visited Sadakkathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai on October 26 and 27, 2009 and subsequently came with the new grade on December 31, 2009, which would be valid for five years (i.e. till December 31, 2014).
 
A. Nihamathullah, Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Sadakkathullah Appa College said that the college was marked on the basis of curricular aspects, teaching, learning and evaluation methods, research, consultancy and extension, Infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance and leadership and the innovative practices being employed by the college to improve the teaching - learning process. The team interacted with the management representatives, teaching and non-teaching staff, students, parents and the members of the alumni association. He also added that the team returned satisfied and has asked the college administration to start new courses in Physical Education and Performing Arts.
