UGC Mulls To Reduce PG Course Duration

New Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) is mulling the suggestion to amend the current post-graduate programme in Law from being of two years duration to that of just one year.

Also, the proposal encourages introducing more selectivity in the admission procedures for these courses, so as to attract a creamy layer of law graduates. As per sources, the announcement was made by D. Purandeswari, Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD).

In an official press release, it was announced that the proposal would also be considered in respect of other post-graduate programmes of study, which are amenable to restructuring by reducing the time duration of the programme for award of degree without compromising on the quality of education or the outcomes to be achieved through such programme of study.
