Union Budget Allots Additional Funds for Ocean and Weather Research

New Delhi: As per the Union Budget tabled on Friday i.e. February 26, 2010 in Lok Sabha, India will spend Rs 168 crore more next fisal for carrying out oceanographic and weather research. 

Central government has allocated the additional amount in order to boost the research activities in the domain of oceanography and weather.
 
In the budgetary allocation Ministry of Earth Sciences has witnessed a jump of nearly 14 percent to Rs 1302 crore from Rs 1134 crore, compared to last financial year. The budgetary allocation increased by over Rs 100 crore for carrying out oceanographic research, while it increased by Rs 40 crore for improving weather forecasting research. 

Also, the funding for Science and Technology Ministry increased by Rs 329 crore to Rs 2,369 crore from Rs 2,040 last year.
