Vedanta University Project Receives Environmental Consent

Bhubaneswar: The proposed Vedanta University project in Orissa by the Anil Agarwal foundation receives the environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) consent from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests. The project is estimated to involve an amount worth Rs 150 billion.

As per sources, Sasanka Patnaik, a project spokesman has made the announcement that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF) have granted the environment and CRZ clearances to the Vedanta University project. He also added that they received the letter from the ministry recently.

The Anil Agarwal foundation is promoted by NRI billionaire and chairman of Britain's Vedanta Resources Anil Agarwal. The foundation proposed to set up a multi-disciplinary Vedanta University over 6,000 acres of land near the Konark-Puri marine drive.

Furthermore, it is envisaged that this not-for-profit university, being built on a global scale, would be one-of-its-kind institution for quality higher education and cutting-edge research facility in 95 academic disciplines for 100,000 students.
