Kolkata: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has commenced classes at its Murshidabad campus from Sunday i.e. March 6, 2011. As per sources, the university has started classes for two years Master of Business Administration (MBA) and five years BA LLB programme.
P K Abdul Aziz, Vice-Chancellor, AMU said that from today (Sunday) classes for the two-year MBA programme and the five-year BA (LLB) programmes have started. In addition, he told the sources that right now the classes are going on in a rented two-storied building as the campus is not yet ready.
As per sources, the Murshidabad campus has been granted Rs 50 crore by the Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, in the union budget for 2011-2012. Further, sources informed that the foundation stone of the campus was laid down last year.
