Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is an outcome of the then education minister of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s vision to replace overseas Cambridge School Certificate Examination by an All India Examination Council. In order to establish the council, in 1952, an All India Certificate Examination Conference was held under the Chairmanship of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and a proposal was adapted to establish a council for regulating All India Examination. Finally, on November 3, 1958, the inaugural meeting of the council was held and since then it is regulating education on All India basis through ICSE and ISC certificates.
