New Delhi: A conference on higher education is going to commence from March 9, 2011. As per sources, the three-day coference, will be carried out at the Habitat Centre in New Delhi. Further, sources informed that educators from leading national and international universities will participate in the conference.
The educators will converse various issues that include partnerships in higher education, future of medical education, vocational education, education infrastructure, education policy framework, sources added. Jagdish Patankar, General Secretary, Emerging Directions in Global Education (EDGE) Forum said that Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal will inaugurate the conference.
Further, Mr. Patankar informed that Mr. Sibal will inaugurate the conference in the presence of well-known educator and scientist Professor C N R Rao. As per sources, EDGE Education Personality of the Year Award will be conferred to Mr. Rao at the conference. In addition, Mr. Patankar said that the conference will be addressed by 70 leading personalities. Further, he informed that Shaping the future of Indian Higher Education is the theme of EDGE 2011 Conference.
As per sources, more than 30 international educational institutions from USA, France, Singapore, Australia, Dubai, Canada and other countries will share the event. They participate in the event to discover partnerships with Indian institutions. Mr. Patankar informed that four workshops, on diverse topics, will be organized at the conference. Dr Vidya Yeravdekar, Vice-Chairman academic programme committee, EDGE said the event also consists of EDUEXPO for institutions, publishing houses, IT companies, and other service providers.
Dr. Yeravdekar also informed that two important research reports will also be released at the conference. In addition, she said that a large delegation of Education Institutions from Pune, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Sinhagad Institute, MIT, Symbiosis International University and several others will be attending the conference.
