New Delhi: The government has reconstituted the Executive and General Council of the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), located in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. As per sources, the new change has been implemented with an immediate effect, for a period of three years. Further, sources informed that the Ministry of Rural Development has issued a notification to this effect.
Moreover, sources informed that the Executive Council will include personalities like Dr. Y K Alagh (Planning Commission Ex-Member), Scientist M G K Menon, Dr. B A Prakash, S S Acharya, MLS University Vice-Chancellor I V Trivedi and Padmashree Anil Joshi, HESCO Dehradun. These are also member of the General Council, sources added. Besides, Rajaiah Sircilla (MP Lok Sabha), Professor M S Swaminathan (MP Rajya Sabha), A R Khan, President PMSC Society are other members of the General Council.
As per sources, these are renowned personalities who are known for their remarkable contribution in the field of rural development. Furthermore, sources informed that the Secretary Rural Development from the states of Assam, Kerala ,West Bengal, Maharashtra and Bihar who are also in charge of Rural Development / Reconstruction or Development Commissioner have been nominated as the member of the General Council.
