Ahmedabad: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) postpones the dates for MBA & MCA course admission. Earlier, the admission was scheduled to be held on July 8. Now, it has been rescheduled to July 18, 2011.
The reason for the delay in the admission process is due to the fact that results of examinations for the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) students conducted last year in various universities in the state has not been declared yet.
Candidates will be selected for the MBA and MCA programmes on the basis of marks scored in GUJCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test) 2011. However, the admission process has been postponed because students whose average score in their BE final exam is less than 50 % are not considered eligible to apply for MBA and MCA courses.
According to a statement issued by official at GTU, in case any student fails to score less than 50 % in their engineering examinations, then their admission will have to be cancelled. He mentioned that it will be a lengthy procedure and would create chaos. Therefore, the best idea was to postpone the admissions till the BE results are declared.
As per sources, the admissions to MBA and MCA was postponed twice last year as well, due to similar delay in declaration of BE results. It is expected that the BE results will be declared in around a week.
