Chandigarh: The Haryana Government will be providing 300 acres of land for the establishment of a premier medical institute on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). As per sources, the institute will be established in Jhajjar district of Haryana.
Further, sources told that AIIMS phase-II in Haryana will be an expansion of the country's leading health institute, which is situated in South Delhi. The new project will be located 100 km from the national capital, sources added. A state government spokesperson said that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had decided to set up AIIMS phase-II in Haryana and had requested the state government to provide land.
Furthermore, the spokesperson told that the land has been leased out for 99 years at a rate of Re 1 per annum. As per sources, the proposed institute is located at less than three km from the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway. Further, sources informed that apart from Haryana, the health services and research facilities of the AIIMS phase-II would be extended to patients from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
