Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) or Haryana Board of Secondary Education (HBSE) was founded in the year 1969. The Board was set up initially with its headquarters in Chandigarh, which was later shifted to the current location in Bhiwani, in January 1981. The semester system of education was introduced by the Board from the academic year 2006-07. It is the first Board in India to do so. In addition, the Board has introduced relative grading, CCE (Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation) in all board classes.
