New Delhi: Today i.e. on March 25, 2011 Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal was in the capital. He was here for a conference of Vice-Chancellors of Central and State Universities. During the conference he discussed about the academic freedom of universities, which is most needed for development.
After inaugurating the conference, Sibal gave a speech during which, he said that political interference must be stopped in appointing the Vice Chancellors of the Universities. In the modern tech savvy world, mobility is the key of development, he added.
During the discussion, Sibal later added that there should be enough flexibility in the courses offered, so that any person sitting in any part of the country can go for studies in a university situated in another part.
As per the sources, some solemn discussions would take place, during the two day conference on various significant issues like research and innovation; faculty development and good governance.
