New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced an interactive web portal for its students and Partner Institutions (PIs). Professor K R Srivathsan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, IGNOU said that from distance learning, they have come to distributed learning. He said this while launching the international division’s state-of-the-art web portal.
As per sources, the portal has been launched at the university's Electronic and Media Production Centre (EMPC) studio. Further, sources informed that the portal has been designed and developed by Advanced Centre for Informatics & Innovative Learning (ACIIL) and the International Division. The new portal will help in better coordination of the programmes, sources added.
Professor Srivathsan said that they have ensured that IGNOU keeps pace with the changing times. Access to content is now easy even for international students. Open Programme Guide/Open Course Guide (OPG/OCG) is a crucial part of the Vedyadhara framework, one of the salient features of the portal, he told.
Further, Mr. Srivathsan said that it enables students/lecturers to go through the online study material in the form of online blocks for each programme and individual course. He also added that contemporary and traditional programmes such as Gandhian Studies would be much in demand amongst the international students. Their counselors can deliver online lectures, allowing E-learning and social networking for each course, he added.
