IIM - L Dominated by Engineers

This year too, students with engineering background are dominating the admissions at Indian Institute of Management - Lucknow (IIM-L). IIM-L has released the detailed list of students inducted for its flagship postgraduate programme in management (PGPM) for 2011-13 batch.

This is the largest batch until now, with a batch size of 419 students. For the 2012-2013 batch, the male - female enrollment ratio is 86% male students to 14% women. Moreover, the educational background is also same like the previous years. This year too, most of the students over 82 % have engineering background. However, a marginal dip of 2.5% has been noted this year, compared to the earlier batch.

Presently, IIM-L has enrolled 36 students from commerce stream, 8 from science, four from architecture, 11 with degrees in medicine or related fields and 7 students from other streams. Significantly, the noteworthy fact is this year there has been an increase in the percentage of commerce students. In addition, students from medical and related streams have also risen this year.

Moreover, this year the institute has also inducted nearly 42 % students with less than a year of work experience. Approximately 20% of the students, on the other hand, have a work experience of over three years.
