Indian Institute of Technology - Madras (IIT-Madras) is gearing up for its plans of expansion. According to Bhaskar Ramamurthi, IIT-Madras Director, the expansion plans of IIT-Madras will include new facilities and projects and things are on the right track.
Considering the fact that the number of students at the institute is touching the 8,000 mark, Prof. Ramamurthi said that efforts are being made to expand and bring in newer projects and not duplicate the existing ones.
He also informed that there are plans to triple the size of the IIT-M Research Park and the Institute. He is also in talks with the government to consider the proposal to set up another campus.
Besides, as per sources, the collaboration of IIT-M with the industry has increased by 25 per cent and there are major associations with national research organizations, including ISRO and DRDO, as well.
