Thiruvananthapuram: Lourdes Matha College of Science & Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Faith Info Tech. As per sources, the MoU was signed in order to provide IT industry practice to the students of the college during the period of their professional course. Further, sources told that the inimitability of the MoU is that the students will get an opportunity to work in the IT industry environment by doing short internships of one week each.
Sources from the college told that the best industry practices, systematic approach to real problem solving, professional exposure of IT Industry environment, technology and process would result in increased confidence and motivation of the candidates, thus bridging the employability gap between academia and industry. Sources from college also informed that India produces about five lakh engineering graduates.
Around 35% of them are computer engineers, college sources said. In addition, they said that they also have about 25000 MCA graduates who too would be aspiring for jobs. Moreover, sources from college told that less than one lakh candidates from the above pool would be considered as employable by the IT industry standard.
