Panel Ready to Consider Replies from 44 Deemed Universities

New Delhi: Yesterday i.e. on April 11, 2011, the Supreme Court has allotted six week time to its expert panel in order to study the replies of 44 deemed universities facing de-recognition, due to deficiencies in their institutions.
 
As per sources, on Jan 11, 2011, the Apex Court has directed the central government officials to issue individual notice to each 44 deemed universities to draw their attention towards the deficiencies in their institutions and call for their explanations.
 
The expert panel is formed to go through the responses on the 44 deemed universities, which they were replied individually after getting notices issued by the ministry.
 
The expert panel will be reconstituted soon as one of its members withdrew from three-member panel. Supreme Court said that, the unwilling member of the panel will not be forced to be on the committee and directed their reconstitution.
 
The Apex Court bench of Justice Dalveer Bhandari and Justice Deepak Verma, has authorized the panel and provide them six week time to go through the responses given by 44 deemed universities facing de-recognition on the recommendation of Professor P.N. Tandon Committee.
 
The Judges of the court said that the human resource development ministry would go through the findings of the expert committee. Thereafter, on the basis of the findings of the expert panel will make recommendation on the future of these institutions. In addition, they said that the ministry will get four weeks to act on the panel's report.
