New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, has announced the last date of registration for online mode of All India Engineering Entrance Examination 2012, popularly known as AIEEE. Candidates who are willing to appear in the online version of AIEEE 2012 can register themselves by December 31, 2011.
The online AIEEE 2012 is scheduled to be held from May 7, 2012 to May 26, 2012, while its offline counterpart will be conducted on April 29, 2012. CBSE conducts AIEEE to select aspiring engineering candidates for admission into various BE (Bachelor of Engineering) / B Tech (Bachelor of Technology) / B Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) / B Planning (Bachelor of Planning) programmes.
Starting from 2012, AIEEE will be conducted only in the online mode. The examination is scheduled to be held in 22 cities across India, the major being Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Allahabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. Every year, over 10 lakh students register for AIEEE, to obtain admission in NITs, IITs, state-run institutes and a large number of private colleges. The number, however, increased this year with 10.5 lakh students registering their candidature and appearing for the entrance examination across 1,685 centers, battling for a total 34, 311 seats.
The last date to register for online AIEEE is December 31, 2011. Candidates can apply for AIEEE 2012 by logging onto the official website: http://aieee.nic.in/. Further, CBSE will begin conducting mock tests for candidates who have opted for appearing in the online AIEEE, starting from the week of December 2011.
