RM Education, a UK based company, is planning to introduce E-marketing system. The system will facilitate examiners scan and feed in exam papers and then mark and correct them online. As per sources, the software has been developed in Trivandrum and now finding its way into the Indian market. Trivandrum is RM’s fastest growing centre, sources added.
Terry Sweeny, CEO, RM Education said that they have never considered it as an outsourcing operation, its part of their company. Further, he added that they’ve been asking him for years when they are going to sell the products in the local market, but they believe in choosing the right time, and not forcing an entry. As per sources, the company is also planning to introduce an interactive whiteboard in India.
Mr. Sweeny said that while it is fairly obvious that going forward the technology spend from the private sector in education is going to boom in India, RM’s global market entry strategy has always been to learn by doing in an overseas market. Furthermore, he said that while a lot of RM’s home market products are geared towards a state sector, including complex reporting and data capturing systems, the Indian market is clearly different - you need partners in the Indian market, there are local companies already in the sector.
