New Delhi: Yesterday, the Shiv Nadar Foundation has announced that it will be establishing new university at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Shiv Nadar Foundation states that is envisioned as one of India's foremost research led, multidisciplinary universities, Shiv Nadar University will offer a full range of academic degree programs. These programmes include undergraduate, postgraduate and professional degrees across a number of disciplines. In addition, the statement also mentioned that the Uttar Pradesh government has enacted the necessary legislation for the establishment of the University in the state.
T S R Subramanian, Shiv Nadar Foundation Trustee, said that the Uttar Pradesh (UP) has an extremely progressive approach towards education. He also said that, we are thankful for the support of the state government which has approved our proposal to establish the Shiv Nadar University in Greater Noida. He also added that, decision of building university, will contribute to the development of Uttar Pradesh by enhancing its position as an education hub.
As per sources, the Shiv Nadar Foundation has also announced the appointment of Dr Nikhil Sinha as the Vice-Chancellor of the University. They also announced that Dr Nikhil Sinha will begin its academic programs with the launch of the School of Engineering this academic year. Moreover, the university plans to roll out other schools in the coming years, including schools of business, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences.
HCL Founder and Chairman of HCL Technologies and the Shiv Nadar Foundation, Mr Shiv Nadar has said that while India can be justifiably proud of having a robust education infrastructure, it has not uniformly kept in tune with the current Indian and global needs in higher education. He also said, the progressive outlook of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has enabled us to set up a University with a multidisciplinary and research led character to address many of these issues.
He also announced that Shiv Nadar University is located on 286 acre campus located in Greater Noida. Over 1.8 million sq ft will be constructed in Phase I, accommodating 4,000 students. He also added, when the university campus construction completed than it will accommodate near by 8,000 students and have over 5 million sq ft of built-up space.
