Strict Rules to Prevent Boycott of Valuation Papers Says Minister

Bangalore: The Karnataka government is all set to implement strict rules in order to prevent boycott of valuation papers by the teachers. The announcement was made by Minister for Primary and Higher Education Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri.

As per sources, the statement was issued on Tuesday i.e. on April 12, 2011, while issuing the statement, the minister said that the government is seriously thinking of making valuation of answer papers obligatory and for no reason the work should be boycotted.

He said that the final decision to this effect would be out after consulting representatives of Teachers Associations, elected Legislative Council Members from Teachers constituency and after taking into consideration the system prevailing in the neighboring States.

This issue came into the Minister's observations when recently Pre-University teachers did three-day boycott of valuation work. They were demanding the removal of remuneration discrepancy, among other things.

However, the protest of Pre-University teachers was withdrawn on Monday, resulting teachers resuming to work, after the assurance by the Chief Minister. Stating that there was no need for anxiety, he said that the valuation work has commenced today and it would be completed according to the schedule.
