Chandigarh: University Institute of Applied Management Studies (UIAMS) at Panjab University will be signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with leading companies. As per sources, UIAMS will sign the MoU in order to encourage industrial-academic coalition at the institute. According to the MoU, heads of industrial giants will contribute in syllabus upgradation. The heads also conduct workshops for students apart from recruiting them from the institute, sources added.
Furthermore, sources informed that professionals have also been invited by the placement cell at UIAMS. The aim to invite these professionals is to provide training to its students in areas like entrepreneurship. Another aim for inviting the professionals is to help students to secure loans for projects that they would like to begin and work on. Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, the new trading and placement officer at the institute said that they had conducted an exercise at the department wherein all students were enquired regarding their job preferences.
Further, Mr. Marwaha added that around 96 students turned up for the exercise from a total of 176 students. They discovered that several students who hail from business families would like to join their family businesses or begin a new venture altogether, he added. In addition, he said that the institute has been facing problems in its initial period as it mostly offers non-traditional courses that still require some time to become completely acceptable in the market.
