Mumbai: On Thursday i.e. January 20, 2011, Xavier Institute of Management and Research (XIMR) have launched its first Centre for Africa Studies. As per sources, the centre has been launched in alliance with Makerere University Business School of Uganda.
Further, sources told that E M Barine, Deputy High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya and Waswa Balunywa, Principal of Makerere University Business School inaugurated the centre. Moreover, sources told that the centre will accommodate students of XIMR pursuing their master’s programme in management studies initially.
Later, the programme will be offered to corporate houses and professionals aspiring to expand their prospects on Africa, sources added. Fr. Paul Vaz, XIMR's Director General said that the XIMR and Markere University Business School will shoulder the responsibility of enhancing the development of the people of emerging nations. As per sources, the main aim of the centre is to prepare students for international assignments in Africa.
