Department of Geology, University of Calcutta, also known as Calcutta University, Kolkata, has invited applications from eligible candidates to register for Research Eligibility Test 2012, also known as RET in Geology. The test is being conducted in order to select eligible candidates for admission into PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) in Geology.
Note: Candidates who have already cleared eligibility tests like NET, GATE, SLET etc., or, having M Phil, or M Tech, with examination scores valid on the day of holding the RET written examination need not appear for the test and can directly take part in the interview.
Date of Exam
The entrance test schedule is as follows:
- RET (Written Part) - September 18, 2012 (from 12.00 noon onwards)
- RET (Interview Part) - September 21, 2012 (from 12.00 noon onwards)

How to Apply
Interested candidates are required to download the application format from the University's official website: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/. The direct link to download the prescribed format is: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/admission%20notice/RET-Geology-2012.pdf. Application fee is Rs 100 which is to be paid at the cash counter of the University of Calcutta using Challan. The duly filled in and completed application in the prescribed format, along with the photocopy of Challan, should be submitted to the Head, Department of Geology, University of Calcutta, latest by September 14, 2012 (up to 5.00 pm).
