Chandigarh: Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE), Panchkula, Haryana, has finished off the Grace Marks System and reduced the pass percentage from 35 to 33. According to the written communication issued addressing to all Principals of government, government-aided and self-financing polytechnics, the Board said that there would be no provision of grace marks from the examinations in 2012-2013, irrespective of any batch, and pass percentage is reduced to 33 per cent from 35.
An HSBTE spokesperson confirmed the news and also informed that any notification previously issued regarding grace marks shall stand cancelled. He further explained that a candidate would be declared passed if he or she obtained at least 33 per cent marks in each theory paper and 40 per cent in each practical examination.
In addition, a student would be promoted to the next semester or class irrespective of number of times he / she reappears in different subjects, but he / she would not be allowed admission in fifth semester if she has not cleared all the sessions and final theory of exams as well as practicals of first semester.
Furthermore, a student would also not be allowed admission in the sixth semester if he or she has not cleared theory and practicals of second semester. All the students having reappeared in the first semester would appear in November / December 2012 examination as per the new syllabus, he added.
