Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), New Delhi, has invited applications for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) (Paper-Pencil Mode), which is scheduled to be held in June 2012.
Note: Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is open only to those students who are already registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for the said course on or before April 4, 2012 and fulfil the requisite eligibility conditions.
Date of Exam
CPT (Paper-Pencil Mode) June 2012 will be held on June 17, 2012 (Sunday) as per the below given schedule:
First Session (i.e. Morning Session)
10.30 am to 12.30 pm (IST)
Section – A - Fundamentals of Accounting
Section – B - Mercantile Laws
Second Session (i.e. Afternoon Session)
2.00 pm to 4.00 pm (IST)
Section – C - General Economics
Section – D - Quantitative Aptitude
Test Centers
The examination will be held in 135 cities in India and 5 cities abroad. (Note: The list of exam centres is given on ICAI's official website: http://icai.org/.)

How to Apply
Interested candidates may obtain the application for admission to Common Proficiency Test (to be made in the relevant prescribed form as contained in the Information Brochure) from the Additional Secretary (Examinations), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI Bhawan, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi - 110 002 on payment of Rs 1000 (Rs 500 towards examination fee and Rs 500 towards cost of application form and iInformation brochure) per application form. The information brochure containing Common Proficiency Test application form will be available in the Regional and Branch Offices of the Institute and can be obtained on cash payment from April 4, 2012 onwards.
One can also fill the examination application form online at http://icaiexam.icai.org from April 4, 2012 (1000 hrs) to April 25, 2012 (1730 hrs) and remit the fee online by using either VISA or MASTER Credit / Debit Card. Candidates paying through Credit / Debit Card shall not be charged Rs 500 (i.e. cost of application form fee) in order to popularize filling-in of application form online. The duly filled and completed CPT application forms may be sent to the Additional Secretary (Examinations) at New Delhi latest by the last date mentioned. However, applications will be also be received by hand delivery at the offices of the Institute at New Delhi and at the Decentralized Offices of the Institute at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Pune upto the last date mentioned below.

Note: It may be noted that there is no provision for acceptance of application forms after April 25, 2012 with late fee.
