Tiruchirappalli: The Chennai centre of Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy) will be formally launched tomorrow, i.e. on November 21, 2012. In addition to that, Prafulla Agnihotri, Director of IIM Trichy also informed that the architecture master plan for the 11th Indian Institute of Management (IIM) i.e. IIM Trichy, which is to be constructed in the outskirts of Trichy, will also be ready by tomorrow.
The IIM was started in Trichy on June 15, 2011 and attracted 84 students in the first year. Besides, in the current academic year, it has enrolled around 100 students. Presently, IIM-Trichy functions in NIT-Trichy's renovated old library building on the Trichy - Thanjavur Road.
Reportedly, the Chennai centre of IIM-Trichy has already short-listed 28 students, which will increase to 50 by next year’s session. According to sources, the Chennai centre will be first-of-its-kind management institute aiming at enabling the Chennai-based professionals to join the three-year PGDBM (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management). The newly built centre has a campus sprawling over an area of 4000 sq ft and is located at Ekkattuthangal.
Furthermore, Agnihotri said that the board of governors under the chairmanship of retired IAS officer M Damodaran has already given the green signal to set up its own campus that will come up at Navalpattu on a 70-acre land on the way to Bharathidasan University on Trichy-Pudukkottai Road. He also informed that tenders for the same will be floated soon after the architecture plan is selected and construction work will start in May next year.
