JEE Registrations Start From Today

New Delhi: The online registration process for the new Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) has begin from today i.e. November 8, 2012. The online registration forms will be available on the official site up to December 15, 2012. This exam is being conducted by JEE Apex Board (JAB) for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other centrally funded technical institutions. As per the notification issued by the Board, from now on, All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) will be known as JEE (Main) and IIT-JEE as JEE (Advanced).
Admission to these institutions will be done on the basis of a merit list based on 40% weightage to Std XII board marks and 60% weightage to JEE (Main). The weightage to school board marks shall be considered only after normalization. However, the JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.
Notification stated that JEE (Main) will consist of Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-I is being conducted to select eligible candidates for admission into engineering courses, whereas, Paper-II is organized to select students who want to study architecture or planning at non-IIT institutes. Paper-I will test the candidates in physics, chemistry and mathematics in the objective format. Moreover, Paper-I can either be taken online (computer based examination) or offline (pen & paper mode), while Paper-II is available only in the offline format.
Paper-I (offline) and Paper-II is scheduled to be held on April 7, 2012. The online exam for Paper-I (online) will be held from April 8-25 and candidates will be required to make their slot / date selection through online mode (from February 1-15, 2013).
