EPSI to hold two-day leadership summit to discuss challenges of Higher Education in India

New Delhi: Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) is organizing a two-day summit under its aegis, representing over 500 higher education institutions. The summit is being conducted to discuss challenges faced by Higher Education sector in India. As per sources, more than 200 academic leaders will be taking part in this mega event, which will be held on February 14-15, 2013 at India International Centre, Delhi.
 
Talking about the topic of discussion, Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, Alternate President, EPSI and Director, Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), said that the Indian higher education system has experienced a rapid growth with presence of over 600 universities and 35,000 colleges. He went on to affirm that, in the coming five to seven years, the sector is expected to grow at even more rapid pace.
 
Explaining about the purpose of EPSI, he added that as an industry body, the education society is responsible for identifying the challenges faced in grooming visionary leaders and inspiring academics capable of leading with integrity. According to the press release issued by EPSI, the Union Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD), Mr. M Pallam Raju and Minister of State, Mr. Shashi Tharoor, will deliver the Inaugural and Valedictory address, respectively.  
 
Some of the special delegates gracing the occasion with their esteemed presence will include, Pawan Agrawal, advisor, Planning Commission; G. Vishwanathan, Chancellor, VIT, Vellore; A Gnanam, former chairman, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC); D.K. Bandhopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIP), Delhi and Ajay Soni, Aon Hewitt.
 
Reportedly, many more eminent delegates from business, engineering, medical and legal education streams, besides humanities, social sciences and liberal arts, shall be attending this convention from all over India.
