The first ever Yoga University of India, Lakulish Yoga University, will be set up in the state of Gujarat. The Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the University today i.e. May 23, 2013. It is claimed to be the first ever such private sector self-financed institution in the country, which has been set up by the Surendranagar-based Life Mission Trust.
According to a statement issued by the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University Bansidhar Upadhyay the University will be the first ever Yoga University in the country which will award full fledged degrees after the completion of three years' course.
Mr Upadhyay has informed that the admissions for six semester three years' degree course will begin on the same day of inauguration. Moreover, the academic session is likely to commence from June 15, 2013.
As per sources, during the three years degree course students will be taught subjects of Ashtang Yoga, karma, knowledge, Bhakti Yoga, philosophy, psychology, anatomy, ayurveda and naturopathy. The VC also added that they have appointed one professor and four lecturers for theory and two instructors for practicals.
