Gurukul Vidyapeeth, SAS Nagar, has launched a new marine engineering course in the college which is to be offered in the upcoming session 2013. The marine engineering course was introduced on Tuesday i.e. on April 16, 2013.
According to a statement issued by Amardip Singh, director (academics and IT), Gurukul Vidyapeeth, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved B-Tech in marine engineering course which is in demand these days. A fee of Rs 45000 per semester would be charged for the course.
Moreover, he informed that the physical fitness standards prescribed for this course is similar with that of National Defence Academy (NDA) norms, which makes it even preferable for students, for whom physical fitness is an way of life.
Marine engineering is a specialized field of study that deals with the engineering aspects of marine related equipment found on board ships, boats and many more. Infact, it is a very vast subject and there are several related fields of study such as naval architecture which may not directly fall under the purview of marine engineering but are related fields.
