New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD Ministry) has written to all states to ensure that, Self-Defence training is made a significant part of the physical education curriculum, for all school girls. Declaration for the same was made by HRD Minister of State, Shashi Tharoor, during today’s question hour session of the Rajya Sabha.

While making the announcement, he affirmed that, in January, the ministry wrote to all education secretaries in the states, saying particularly, that from the upper primary level, physical training classes must include self defence training for girls.
