Kolkata: Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, also known as IIM Calcutta, West Bengal, has decided to offer five Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships (PDRFs) from upcoming academic year 2013-14. Launching these fellowships is a significant move made in order to strengthen the research infrastructure of this prestigious B-school in the country.
According to the sources, the research fellowship will be of two years duration with many benefits. Some of the additional perks that shall be offered to the selected candidates' are, monthly stipend, an annual contingency grant, medical benefits and insurance etc. It is believed that this esteemed research programme will provide a great opportunity for a researcher, to make a smooth transition from supervised research, to independent research.
One of the key objectives of these PDRFs is to offer management researchers in India, a chance to contribute to the theory of management, specially suited to the Indian context. Also, this programme will enable faculty members at IIM Calcutta to work together, on research projects with their younger counterparts.
As per the sources, the selected candidates (for the PDRF) will be attached to an appropriate Group depending on the post-doctoral research. Moreover, they will also be associated with a faculty member of the group, who will essentially perform the role of a mentor and collaborator.
Furthermore, apart from the research pursued by the post-doctoral research fellow, his / her services will also be utilized by the Group, for academic assistance including research assistance, teaching and handling of tutorials.
