This year, the business-schools in Maharashtra have decided not to conduct group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) for enrolling students for the MBA prorgarmme.
As per sources, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) is the body responsible for conducting the centralized admission procedure. The directorate will be offering admissions to the MBS aspirants on the basis of CMAT scores only. An official has claimed that the results of the CMAT which was held in the month of May might delay the admission procedure if GD and PI are conducted.
Sources have informed that the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has compelled the DTE to start the academic season on time in colleges. While admission process will start by the second week of June, it is anticipated that the first round of admissions will be completed by June 30 if the usual process is followed by DTE. The main concern and idea behind scrapping of GD & PI by DTE is to complete the first round of admissions by the end of the month of June. Moreover, a notification to this effect will be released soon.
Furthermore, this year, for the management admission procedure preference will be given to CMAT takers. Besides, if seats are vacant after the three rounds of admissions, students will be enrolled on the basis of their performance in the entrance examinations conducted across the country, including CAT.
