Rae Bareli: The cabinet, on Thursday, gave its approval for two central universities - the Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University and the Indira Gandhi National University for Women - in Rae Bareli.
Manish Tewari, Information and Broadcasting Minister said in a statement, the cabinet has approved setting up of the Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University and the Indira Gandhi National University for Women in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. He also added that the bills related to the two institutions will come up in the coming monsoon session of parliament.
As per information, the Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University will be founded as a central university and as an autonomous body under the administrative control of Ministry of Civil Aviation. The aviation university intends to facilitate and promote aviation studies, teaching, training and research with focus on emerging areas of studies. These include aviation management, aviation regulation and policy, aviation history, aviation science and engineering, aviation law, aviation safety and security, aviation medicine, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous goods, environmental studies and related fields.
The Indira Gandhi National University for Women will be the first university of the country to be established exclusively for women. The project is expected to cost Rs 500 crores during the 12th Plan period. As per Manish Tewari statement, this would set the pace for all round growth and development of women and supplement the efforts of the government for women's empowerment by giving them an increased access to employment oriented basic courses and high end research.
