Nellore: Students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, who aspires to study abroad, will now get a financial aid of Rs 10 lac. The announcement was made on Sunday i.e. on April 14, 2013 by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
According to the statement issued by Kiran Kumar Reddy the state government will give the SC/ST students an aid of Rs 10 lac for higher studies in foreign countries. He made this announcement during a public meeting held at Sullurpet in the district.
As per sources, while interacting with members of SC/ST communities as part of his ongoing Indiramma Kalalu programme, the chief minister also said the state government had set aside an amount of Rs 12,250 crore intended to spend for their welfare.
Moreover, Mr Reddy added that the sub-plan for SCs/STs would change their living standards. In addition, the chief minister also announced Rs 75 crore for augmenting drinking water supply in Sullurpet town.
