Bengaluru: Professor Ved Prakash, the Chairman of UGC, has said that higher education institutions should focus on inclusive and quality education in order to boost up nation’s economy. He was speaking at the Sixth National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Award Ceremony.
It is the duty of institutions to find out talent which is still far away from their reach. Stressing at the necessity of higher education in India, Professor Prakash said there are some sections in the society, especially Muslim minorities, whose participation in higher education is very poor. It is the need of time that higher education institutions focussed on inclusive and quality education as in the future only those who come with valuable education are going to be in business.
Rather than spending huge sum on infrastructure and accord importance to physical fitness, the institutes are need to invest on classroom processes as the main objective of an academic institution is to impart quality education and it will happen only when the environment of classroom changes. Institutions should also motivate students towards research and innovation to make a mark at national and global level, He further added.
Citing at the faculty shortage in the Indian universities and higher education institutions, Professor Prakash said that how is it possible to widen the horizon of education without good faculty strength. The institute under utilization and misutilization of resources should also be addressed apart from the serious concern of competing with the revolution of online education, he also added.
Partnership with the industry will be helpful in increasing global appearance and creating job opportunity for the students. Adding that, the higher education institutions should be away from commercialization as it will paralyze the complete education system, Professor Prakash concluded his speech.
