Admission for OBC Students Remains Open in DU

New Delhi: In most of the Delhi University (DU) affiliated colleges admissions for the OBC category remains open with the fourth list expected to come up with a further dip in cut-offs for this category. DU’s popular colleges like Hindu, Hans Raj, Lady Sri Ram and Gargi are almost certain that Wednesday will be the final day for admitting students from the general category. However, mentions that OBC admissions are a different matter. Hindu College on Tuesday admitted eight OBC students, taking the total to 116 out of 131 seats.

Meera Ramachandran, Principal of Gargi College, said that Gargi College till now has proved to be the most successful one in respect of OBC admissions. It has filled the seats in three programmes and hopes to fill a couple more on Wednesday. Although in all probability there will be a fourth list, the cut-off may not dip too much if there is just a couple of seats left.

Meanwhile in LSR, even after eight days of admissions (including all three cut-off lists), only 20 admissions were made against 100-odd seats for the OBC category. According to LSR admission committee, the OBC admissions have been low. Even though all the seats for Hindi (Hons) had been filled, admission will be kept open in the fourth list as well for most programmes. Moreover, the cut-off would be brought down till a difference of 10% is reached and would also keep the admissions open till August 14 as per university guidelines.
