DU CATE Results

New Delhi: Results of Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE) conducted by Delhi University (DU) will be declared today. It is the first ever common entrance test conducted by English Department in DU for students applying for English (Hons) course this year, held on June 17 at 12 colleges.

As per the sources, the results will be declared in the evening after its compilation. First, a meeting would be conducted by the English Department and then the results will be sent to the respective colleges. The test was conducted to assess the aptitude of students for the course. Approximately 6,700 students had appeared for the common entrance test for the 350 available seats in DU colleges.

Initially the colleges were reluctant to sign for a common entrance test. However, in the end 12 colleges agreed for the test  - Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Hindu, Indraprastha, Kamla Nehru, Maharaja Agrasen, Ram Lal Anand (evening), Satyaati (evening), Shivaji, Shyam Lal, Swami Shradhanad, Zakir Hussain and Zakir Hussain (evening) classes.

Most colleges that signed for the test are not usually preferred by the students. This ensures that the test will drive candidates towards the course and not the college. There was a massive response noticed toward the test with students scoring beyond 90% also appeared for CATE.
