New Delhi: St Stephen’s College in New Delhideclared its 2009 cutoff list for admissions to various courses on June 17. The list was declared a day ahead of scheduled date. Students are going to have tough time getting enrolled in the Delhi University (DU) affiliated colleges, with the cutoff percentage indicating a steep increase.
Cut-offs for every course have shown a great increases, with the highest leap of 9 percentage points in the BA program, the minimum marks required for science students rose from 85% in 2008 to 94% this year. For humanities students, the cut-off rose from 79% to 88%. For Commerce students, the there was a moderate increase of 5 percentage points for BA, but overall it will tough for them. In English (Honours), History (Hons) and Economics (Hons) students with a commerce background will need at least 97% to get into perhaps the country’s most prestigious college. The cut-off hovers between 94% and 97% for commerce students in 11 of the 12 program.
