DU Third List Keeps BA, B Com Open

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) third cut-off list has kept intact the hopes of students aspiring to join the BA, B Com and B Sc general course, as admission to these programmes are still open in most colleges.

Even if most popular colleges have closed the admission procedure for B Com, Economics, English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths, hope is still there. Popular colleges like LSR, Hindu, Ramjas, SGTB Khalsa, Sri Venkateswara will admit students in programmes such as B Com (Hons) or economics (Hons), starting July 6, though with a dip of upto 0.5%.

With the third cut-off announcing a huge dip in BA programme, as many as 43 colleges are still admitting students in various combinations by decreasing their cut-off by 2% to 6%. Daulat Ram, which has closed 12 programmes, has now slashed the BA programme cut-off by 7% to 12% for students from different streams. Hindu has also decreased the cut-off by 2%, while Sri Venkateswara has brought it down by 3% to 4% for different streams.

B Com programme is yet another option left out. Comparatively low in demand than the B Com (H), B Com is still open in 28 colleges, including three North Campus ones. Off-campus colleges like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sri Venkateswara, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce have also released a third list for B Com with a dip of up to 0.75%.

However, in sciences, most colleges are done with their admission procedure. Only courses like B Sc Physical Science and Life Sciences, Honours in Zoology and Botany are still open in many colleges. Bhaskaracharya and Shaheed Rajguru are the only two science colleges where the admissions are still open with a considerable dip of 2% to 5%.

The third list clearly indicates that English (Hons) is more or less out of reach. The popular colleges participating in CATE - Hindu, IP and Kamala Nehru have closed admissions for English (H). However, there is a dip of 2.5% to 6% in colleges like Ramjas and Khalsa. OBC category seats remain vacant for the second consecutive year at DU colleges. Therefore, most colleges have announced a third list for the OBC category across courses with a dip up to 10%.
