Inconvenience Caused Due to Teachers Strike in DU

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) teachers joined the strike called by the Federation of Central Universities Teachers’ Association, to protest against the UGC / MHRD circular on withdrawal of exemption from NET, for PhD / M Phil holders. The participation of the teachers in the strike resulted in the first unofficial “holiday” of the season, on Thursday.

Freshers at DU relished the first holiday of the season, which was accompanied with rain. Most of them went to explore the nearby hangouts. A few of them were completely drenched and could be seen sitting in huddles, chatting away on the University campus. Meanwhile, not all classes were cancelled, as the Science Departments and Arts Faculty witnessed some classes in the afternoon. Partial classes were also recorded both in North Campus and off-campus colleges.

As per the sources, the issue is not very close to all section of teachers and that is the reason why the strike is not complete, unlike in the past. In fact, many teachers felt that the reason was not good enough for them to go on strike. As for the students, the ones still looking for suitable accommodation can seize the opportunity to go house-hunting.
