OBC Reservation Raised upto 18 percent by DU

New Delhi: 18 percent reservation for students belonging to the category of Other Backward Classes (OBC) is announced by Delhi University from the next academic session. This is a steep increase of nine percent in reservation for OBC students.
 
S K Vij, Dean of Student's Welfare, at a press conference said that increase in reservation would result in an increase in the overall number of seats for OBC students in each course. Moreover, DU has decided an increase of 36 percent in the number of seats in each course. That will bring up the total number of seats from 42,000 to 49,000. He elaborated saying that from last years nine percent OBC quota reservation, this year the reservation is increased to 18 percent. Next year, the reservation as per the directions of the Supreme Court and the human resources development ministry would increase up to 27 percent. The admission process in DU would commence from June 1 with the availability and submission of forms and the first cut off list would be announced on June 25.
