AIIMS To Conduct Online Entrance Test From 2010

New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is also following the footsteps of other elite institutes like Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) – it has opted to conduct its entrance examination online, from the year 2012. AIIMS administration has taken the decision in order to ensure that its entrance examinations for undergraduate, postgraduate and other courses are totally fair and transparent.
 
As per sources, the online models that will be considered to create the online examinations are the Common Admission Test (CAT) and the online test from Manipal Medical College. Total number of entrance that AIIMS conducts in a year is 14, including biotechnology, M Sc Programmes, Nursing, etc. The examination department will be choosing out various cities across the country to be the centers for the online entrance tests. Yet, another development that the AIIMS examination department will be taking this year itself is uploading the exam admit cards online, which can be printed out and used by the students.
 
Furthermore, essential measures are also being adopted to ensure that no errors or glitches occur when about a lakh students would appear for the entrance test for MBBS and MD medical programmes, the examination department of the institute is researching models of various entrance examinations that are online. A source from AIIMS was quoted as saying that the administration and examination committee are analyzing all possible problems that can occur during the test, as the entrance test takes place on a very large level.
