University of Delhi has announced that around 1000 seats are still available for the admission of the students.

DU to Enroll Students to 1000 More Seats

New Delhi: There is some good news for those Delhi University aspirants who had been unable to enroll into the desired college this year, because DU colleges are inviting some applications for the seats in Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
 
According to the DU officials, around 10-15% seats in the OBC category are still vacant in some colleges. The seats will be opened for admission to all categories of students, from August 6-16, 2010. Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Deputy Dean of Students’ Welfare, estimates more than 1000 seats in the OBC category that are still available. The DU colleges will admit students on the basis of merit. As per the schedule of the University, the main admission procedure is supposed to end by August 6.
 
Among the colleges, Kirori Mal College and Hindu College have already started inviting applications for the vacant seats available for various programmes including B. Com (Hons). Vice Principal M.C. Nahar of Kirori Mal College said that the interested candidates can send their applications by July 25, 2010.
 
Principal Vinay Kumar Srivastav of the Hindu College said that there are such courses like B.Com (Honors), BA (Honors), sociology, history, B.Sc. (Honors) in Zoology, Statistics and Chemistry, in which some OBC seats are available to be converted into general category seats. Moreover, he said that the cutoff marks for the vacant seats would be as same as fifth cut-off list, which had been declared earlier.
