IGNOU Launches PG Diploma Programme For Training Doctors in Diabetes

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a Postgraduate (PG) Diploma programme for training medical graduates in diabetes mellitus. As per sources, the programme has been launched in collaboration with Hansa Med Cell of Hansa Vision Pvt Ltd. Further, sources informed that the classes for the new programme will commence from January 2011.
 
On Tuesday i.e. November 9, 2010, Professor P R Ramanujam, Pro Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, said that flexibility and outreach are the two important strengths of the University. In addition, he said that they hope to use these strengths for improving healthcare, especially to the poorest sections of society.
 
An IGNOU Spokesperson told the sources that according to the terms of agreement, IGNOU along with Hansa Med Cell will design and develop the programme with its panel of eminent diabetes specialists from across the country. In addition, the spokesperson told that the PG Diploma programme will be offered through IGNOU study centers as well as the centers of Hansa Vision.
