IGNOU to Launch M Sc Programme in Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology

Bangalore: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will soon be launching Master of Science (M Sc) programme in Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology. As per sources, IGNOU and the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a joint Centre of Excellence at the IBAB Campus, Bangalore.
 
Further, sources told that the M Sc in Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology programme will be offered at the proposed Centre of Excellence. In addition, sources informed that the postgraduate (PG) programme will be launched under IGNOU's School of Sciences. Moreover, sources told that the course is expected to get started soon.
 
As per sources, there is a serious dearth of professionals in this field in our country. The proposed programme is a unique programme, which is not being offered anywhere else in the country and will prepare manpower in Bio informatics and applied biotechnology.
