DTU Students Showcase Talent in Indo-US Innovation Exposition

New Delhi: Delhi Technological University (DTU) students show-cased their talents at the Indo-US innovation exposition, which was held on Wednesday i.e. on July 20, 2011. It was jointly organized by FICCI and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum
 
In the exposition DTU students' innovations include unmanned aircraft systems, which recently won the Dr. Arthur Reyes Safety Award. Also, hybrid car, super mileage vehicle, robotic sub-marine, solar car and cycle operated washing machine. Sources have informed that some of these innovations have also been acknowledged by the scientific community as well as won awards.
 
PB Sharma, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of DTU said that the effort at the University has always been to promote research and innovations among its students. He added that the young mind are required to be trained as breakthrough leaders to over ride the obstruction generally dealt by innovators in India.
 
Furthermore, he also added that they also need to incorporate the culture of innovation in their higher education system. He pointed that one of the major grey areas in India is the lack of formal structures for transforming knowledge into prosperity. Sharma mentioned that to deal this they need to set up technological incubation and commercialization centers in their universities.
