DU to Introduce New Maths-IT Four Year Degree Course

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) is likely to introduce a new Maths-IT four year degree course, to encourage innovation in curriculum. The course will also offer its students hands on learning through industry-based projects.

As per the sources, the course would be a degree in Mathematics and information and communication technology (ICT) and will be interdisciplinary as well. The curriculum for the course has been developed and the council is working on the norms of admission and faculty for it.

A senior DU official said that this four-year course will encourage students to take up innovations in different areas of work. He also added that this programme will enable students to go into research, engineering, signal processing, electronics and computer science as there would be lots of projects connected with industry.

Another advantage of this programme will be that it would give only 40% weightage to classroom learning. Rest of the 60% weightage will be given to industry projects. Source said that if the course gets approval from executive council and academic council, it will be opened for students for admissions later this year.
