IGNOU to Introduce Culinary Institute Next Year

New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, is planning to launch culinary arts institute by next year. The main objective aim behind introducing the institute is to set the highest parameters of culinary research, development, and documentation.
 
The University made the announcement on Tuesday i.e. on October 18, 2011. As per sources, IGNOU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sweden's Gothenburg University, Sweden for the Institute of Culinary Arts (ICA), which would be set up by July 2012. B.K. Goswami, advisor for the ICA, has said that their focus is to provide ready-to-train workers for the kitchen. He said that the manpower would have all types of domain skills and knowledge and fit into different job positions and resource categories of the industry.
 
Furthermore, he also mentioned that the kitchen of the R&D (research and development) centre will be built like an amphitheater for photography and training purposes. As per the University, initially the ICA will be launched with three-year degree programmes in Culinary Arts, Culinary Management, and Catering Technology and one year diploma programmes in Food Production and Patisserie as well as Food Processing.
